Fresh, locally sourced food and a satisfying seasonal menu sit well alongside the glorious fell views from The Conservatory’s glass-fronted dining area. Enjoy a selection of much-loved favourites as well as more unusual and exciting dishes, all lovingly cooked in-house by our skilled and creative chefs.

In the Lounge
After enjoying your meal, extend your evening in our elegant lounge. The airy space has plenty of relaxed seating and characterful features such as beautiful exposed brick and a double-sided fireplace. Chat the evening away or sit back in companionable silence
At the Bar
Arrive early or stay late to make the most of our bar. We stock a wide range of wines, beers and spirits, many from local makers as well as popular well-known brands. Once you’ve selected your tipple, sit back in our delightful lounge or take a seat at your table in the restaurant.
Guests are also welcome to enjoy tea, coffee and delicious homemade cakes throughout the day.
Outside Dining
The terrace is a wonderful place to enjoy your meal, or a drink, when the weather is nice. Sit back, relax and take in the stunning mountain views.
Dogs are welcome on the terrace.
Special Occasions - Afternoon Tea
Served daily between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
Treat a loved one to a deliciously relaxing afternoon, get all the girls together for a much-needed catch-up, or indulge in sweet treats “just because”. Whatever your reason for taking a traditional afternoon tea at the Melbreak, we’ll make the experience extra special.
Restaurant Opening Hours
Monday - Friday: 12pm – 1.45pm and 5pm – 8:45pm
Saturday: 12pm – 8:45pm
Sunday: 12pm – 7:45pm
Breakfast is also available for both residents and non-residents and is served 7am – 9am on weekdays, and 8am – 10am on weekends and Bank Holiday Mondays.
Dietary Requirements
Our chefs are happy to cater for all dietary requirements and allergies where possible, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free. Please let us have as much notice as possible so that we can prepare something delicious for you.
Our Location and Parking
Located just off the A595 and A66, The Conservatory restaurant is easy to reach from Workington, Cockermouth, Maryport and Whitehaven. There is plenty of on-site parking (including Fuuse EV charging stations*), and taxis can be requested in advance.
