We welcome small groups visiting to enjoy the stunning location and peaceful atmosphere. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to accept party groups.
Amazing! This was the second time we have stayed at The Melbreak for our adventure retreat in the Lakes. It’s one of our favourite places. We used the beautiful ground for our morning yoga. The breakfast was delicious and the dinner was superb! The rooms were spotless and so comfortable. The main thing for us was the staff were incredible, so friendly and helpful. You made our stay absolutely perfect. Thank you so much and we will see you next year!

Surrounded by mountain scenery and rolling green fields, The Melbreak is the perfect base for soulful weekend yoga, wild swimming, or other wellness retreats. Gather together in the airy lounge, enjoy a practice in our lush grounds or tipis (coming soon), or head to the nearby lakes or coast for a session surrounded by natural beauty.
Walking Groups
Walking groups hoping to explore the best of the Lake District will find an ideal base at The Melbreak. With views of the Western Fells, we are within a short drive of popular hikes such as Blencathra, Skiddaw and Catbells, as well as walks that are off the beaten track. Look beyond the Lakes, too, with flat walks by the Solway Coast, including along the King Charles III England Coast Path, which passes just a few miles away.
Corporate Retreats
Gather your team for a relaxing and engaging corporate retreat at The Melbreak. Our well-appointed bedrooms provide a comfortable space for delegates, while access to meeting rooms, outside spaces and tipis (coming soon) provide options for a range of team-building activities and meetings. With plenty of parking and easy access from the M6 and A66, choose us as your corporate base for an overnight or weekend retreat.

Lounge and Bar
With a well-stocked bar, comfortable seating and a welcoming ambiance, the lounge and bar is the perfect place for your group to gather in the evening or throughout the day. Sample alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from both the local area and further afield.
On-Site Restaurant
The Conservatory is our highly-acclaimed on-site restaurant with mountain views, a terrace, and dining pods - weather prevailing! Our seasonal menu makes the most of local produce from both land and sea, with a commitment to delicious, interesting and locally-sourced meals.
Meeting Rooms
Take advantage of two meeting rooms, both with views over the fells. Our flexible meeting spaces cater for up to 30 delegates and include a range of refreshment options.
Parking and EV Charging
There is plenty of complimentary on-site parking at The Melbreak for ease of access. Taxis and private buses and coaches are also readily available to hire from nearby Workington and Cockermouth if you prefer to leave the car at home.
There are six Fuuse EV charging stations available on-site.
